About the Fox Lane LTN

Enfield Council’s Fox Lane LTN has blocked off 11 roads out of 16 using bollards and planters to create a series of cul-de-sacs. It means that drivers can no longer use Fox Lane on journeys between Southgate and Palmers Green, or take one of the residential roads across Fox Lane to travel north – south.

Whilst the aim is to discourage vehicles from passing through and thus improve the environment and encourage more walking and cycling the net effect is that the displaced traffic is pushed back onto main roads – which are often also residential, causing more congestion across a wide area – whilst the LTN roads are empty.
